PeaZip for MAC

Free, open-source file archiver for Mac: open and create 7Z, RAR, ZIP, TAR and over 200 other archive formats, with encryption.

PeaZip Overview

PeaZip is a free file archiver and file manager that opens and creates archives in a huge number of formats. It supports more than 240 file extensions as archives, including 7Z, RAR, ZIP, TAR, GZ, XZ and many others, so you can extract almost any compressed file you come across. You can also create your own archives and protect them with encryption, all from a file browser that refreshes automatically.

PeaZip is an open-source alternative to WinRAR and WinZip. It uses well-known compression engines, with 7-Zip and its own Pea format inside. Version 11.4.0 strengthens security with better checks on the files it reads and updates its engines. PeaZip is made by Giorgio Tani and is free and open source under the LGPL-3.0 license. It has separate downloads for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It is not notarized by Apple, so its macOS page explains how to clear the quarantine flag with a Terminal command the first time you open it.
